Bulga State Forest

at giants' feet by their chocolate bark

at a bent neck view of the bottle-green leaf clumps

in the height of millennial Tallowwood

I thought I heard laughter and your voice beside me

when sipping the stream

in the underforest shadow

glass-ball orange rainforest fruit

lime feather moss and I screamed inside!

recalling my lips press your warm white face

a lyrebird on the ridge through a cross-branched maze

then my footstep crushing a red mushroom thicket

Amanda, there's something about you that spins me out!

then a sunlit flash of the bower bird's blue!

it's a joy that blooms when you are near
